ABU Announces Mandatory NERD Clearance for NYSC Mobilization
The management of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has issued a special bulletin directing all graduating students and prospective corps members to comply with the new Nigeria Education Repository and Databank (NERD) policy recently approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

According to the bulletin, the policy mandates that all graduates must obtain NERD clearance before being processed for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) mobilization. The directive takes effect from the 2025 Batch “C”, meaning only those with NERD clearance slips will be eligible for NYSC registration.
Graduating students are to visit the NERD portal via https://ncd.gov.ng/onboarding or https://estmat.ncd.gov.ng/ai/enrot-v2.php to complete the preliminary upload of their thesis or project.
Required documents for the process include:
- A functional email address
- Soft copy of thesis or project
- Certificate or statement of result
- Passport photograph
- NIN number or slip
The bulletin further instructs that when attestation is requested, graduates should upload a copy of their certificate or statement of result for verification before receiving the upload link for their thesis or project.
ABU added that NERD clearance slips can also be obtained through the university’s official portal at www.abu.edu.ng or in Room 122, First Floor, Senate Building.
