ABU Governing Council Pays Courtesy Visit to Emir of Zazzau

The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Governing Council recently paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR. Led by Council Chairman Mahmud Yayale Ahmed, CFR, the visit aimed to reaffirm the council's support, loyalty, and respect for the Emir's royalty.

During the visit, Ahmed highlighted the historical significance of Zazzau Emirate as a center of learning, dating back to before the Fulani Jihad. He also acknowledged the emirate's support for the university since its establishment in the 1960s.

The council chairman briefed the Emir on the university's challenges, including the lack of adequate academic staff and modern facilities. He expressed gratitude for the Emir's advice on conducting the selection process for the Vice-Chancellor with integrity and fairness.

The Emir commended the council for conducting a successful selection process, which resulted in the appointment of Prof. Adamu Ahmed as the new Vice-Chancellor. He urged Prof. Ahmed to build on the foundation laid by his predecessors and to consult where necessary.

The Emir also assured the university of his support, stating that the doors of the palace are always open for assistance. The visit was seen as a demonstration of the strong relationship between the university and the Zazzau Emirate.
