ABU to Host Professorial Chair Close-out Seminar

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) will host a close-out seminar for the outgoing Occupant of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Professorial Chair in Chemical Engineering, Prof Baba El-Yakubu.

The seminar will take place on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the ACENPEE Building, Engineering Phase III, ABU, Zaria.

The PTDF Chair Research Group at ABU has made significant contributions to zeolite-catalysts over the past two decades. The research focuses on the synthesis, deactivation, and passivation of zeolite-based catalysts, with potential applications in refineries, including the Dangote Refinery in Nigeria.

The newly appointed PTDF Chair Occupant, Prof Abdulazeez Yusuf Atta, aims to establish an indigenous value chain for zeolite catalyst manufacturing, improving refining efficiency, conserving foreign exchange, and supporting environmental sustainability.
