Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Student Union Government Removes Ambassador Over Alleged Fraud

The Students' Union Government (SUG) of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, has permanently removed Destiny Oche from his position as Faculty of Management Ambassador due to allegations of fraud.

According to a statement released by the SUG, Oche was suspended indefinitely on January 26, 2024, pending an investigation into the allegations. The investigation revealed that Oche had been entrusted with money by some students to help them secure accommodation, but he was scammed instead.

Although Oche's prolonged silence led many to believe he was guilty, the investigation found that he was not. However, the committee received genuine complaints from affected students, which were supported by evidence.

The issue was resolved amicably, with all victims agreeing to a refund of 50% of their claims, which has already been processed. The remaining 50% will be refunded by early June 2025.

The SUG President endorsed all decisions made by the Investigative Committee, which handled the matter. The SUG remains committed to addressing students' concerns and ensuring their well-being both on and off campus.
