ABU’s National Animal Production Research Institute wins at this year’s National Agric Show

The National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, was one of the organisations that won prizes at the 2023 National Agricultural Show in Nasarawa State. The Institute bagged the “1st Position Poultry” award.

The event took place at the National Agricultural Show Ground, Km 28 Abuja – Keffi Road, Tudun Wada, Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, from 19th – 24th November, 2023.

“Towards the Realisation of Presidential Declaration of Emergency on Food Security” was the theme of this year’s Agricultural Show. 

NAPRI fully participated at the event where it showcased its research findings in poultry, rabbitry, pasture seeds both native and introduced, round and square hay bales, diary and food products, and publications. 

The institute’s stand attracted both national and international stakeholders in animal agriculture. 

The Chairman, Board of Trustees, National Agricultural Foundation of Nigeria (NAFN), Arc. Kabiru Ibrahim, conferred the award on the Institute at the closing ceremony of the six-day agricultural show.

The Institute was presented with a plaque as the winner of the “1st Position Poultry” and a certificate of participation.

The animal research institute was represented at the agric show by Dr. M. Ishiaku, Assistant Director, Extension and Linkages; Abubakar Sadiq, Head of Publications and Information Unit; and other staff from the Poultry, Rabbit and Feed, and Nutrition Research Programmes. 

The Institute’s Executive Director, Prof. Muhammad Rabiu Hassan, thanked the Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Kabiru Bala, members of the University community and all those who participated or gave support towards food security in Nigeria.
