Accreditation is Crucial for Varsity's Survival, Says BUK VC

The Vice Chancellor of Bayero University Kano (BUK), Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, emphasized the pivotal role of accreditation in ensuring the sustenance and quality of a university's academic programs.

This proclamation came as the university hosted the National Universities Commission's (NUC) Accreditation teams for the undergraduate programs of B.A Theatre and Performing Arts and BSc. Geology in the Faculties of Communications and Earth and Environmental Sciences, respectively.

During the visit, Prof. Abbas highlighted the critical nature of this peer review exercise, designed to ascertain compliance with NUC guidelines and identify areas necessitating improvement within the university's academic framework.

Expressing his commitment to facilitating a smooth assessment process, Prof. Abbas eagerly anticipated engaging in constructive discussions with the teams during the exit briefing session.

Leading the accreditation teams, Prof. Olu Obafemi conveyed their mission's essence: to ensure quality assurance regarding curriculum content rather than engage in a fault-finding mission. He commended the university's maintenance of academic standards and expressed gratitude for the warm reception received, acknowledging the challenge of departing due to the excellent hospitality extended.

The visit, attended by key university officials including the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, University Librarian, Ag. Registrar, Director of Academic Planning, and Faculty Deans, involved discussions, the exchange of souvenirs, and a group photograph as the highlights of the day.
