The Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, Ebunoluwa Oduwole, has commended two members of the university community for outstanding performance at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, following a facility tour of the institute’s Molecular Biology Laboratory.

The visit, part of an ongoing institutional engagement in Ibadan, spotlighted an ACU PhD student, Yemi Fajire, and an alumna, Grace Daramola, both actively involved in advanced laboratory research at the institute.
Fajire, currently pursuing her doctoral programme under the supervision of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Atinuke Olanbiwonninu and Dean of Agriculture Moses Adebayo, led the ACU delegation through the laboratory, demonstrating operational expertise across multiple research units.
The tour covered key facilities including DNA and RNA analysis sections, ploidy analysis units, real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) systems, sequencing infrastructure, and culture laboratories—highlighting the institute’s capacity for high-level biotechnology research.
The engagement evolved into technical exchanges between the university delegation and resident researchers, reinforcing collaborative prospects in agricultural biotechnology and applied research.
Oduwole, speaking after the tour, described the researchers as strong representatives of the university’s academic standards and global competitiveness, noting that their performance within a leading research environment validates the institution’s training model.

The delegation included Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Olukayode Binuyo, Registrar Bode Olofinmuagun, and faculty leadership across agriculture-related disciplines.
The visit forms part of broader efforts to deepen institutional collaboration and position the university within global research networks, particularly in agriculture and biotechnology.
