Ahmadu Bello University Dean Advocates Agriculture as Key to Nation Building

Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, hosted the 17th Annual General Assembly of its Alumni Association, where Prof. Maryam Mukhtar Aminu, Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences, emphasized the critical role of agriculture in nation-building. Speaking as Chairperson of the Local Organising Committee during the Pre-Annual General Assembly Lecture, Prof. Aminu highlighted the need for innovative solutions to combat food insecurity and economic challenges.
In her address, titled "Hunger and Economic Hardship: A Call to Return to Our Roots and Embrace Innovative Agricultural Solutions," Prof. Aminu stressed the importance of knowledge and collaboration in overcoming the nation’s challenges. She urged participants to utilize insights from the lecture to shape Nigeria's future and promote prosperity.
The event also featured a keynote lecture delivered by Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, which called for a reevaluation of Nigeria’s approach to agriculture and rural development. Prof. Aminu expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, the university management, and all attendees for their support in ensuring the success of the event.
