Ahmadu Bello University Holds 2024/2025 Matriculation Ceremony for Fresh Undergraduate Students
Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, today, February 25, 2025, held its matriculation ceremony for the 2024/2025 undergraduate students at Mamman Kontagora Square. The event officially inducted fresh students into the institution, with the Registrar, Rabiu Samaila, overseeing the administration of the Matriculation Oath.

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, today, Tuesday, February 25, 2025, held its matriculation ceremony for the newly admitted undergraduate students of the 2024/2025 academic session. The event, which took place at Mamman Kontagora Square on the university’s main campus in Samaru, formally marked the induction of fresh students into the prestigious institution.
The ceremony commenced at 10:00 a.m. with hundreds of matriculating students robed in academic gowns, as they gathered to take the Matriculation Oath, signifying their official entry into the university community. The Registrar of the institution, Rabiu Samaila, oversaw the proceedings, ensuring that all students complied with the necessary matriculation requirements.
Prior to the event, students were mandated to obtain their academic gowns and Matriculation Oath Forms from their respective Faculty Officers after making a payment of two thousand naira (N2,000) through the university’s Remita payment platform. Faculty Officers were also instructed to take records of student attendance and submit them to the Academic Office for documentation on individual student portals.
The matriculation ceremony, a long-standing tradition of Ahmadu Bello University, signifies the beginning of an academic journey for the newly admitted students, who are expected to uphold the university’s values of excellence, discipline, and dedication to learning.
Speaking at the event, university officials urged the students to take full advantage of the institution’s academic resources and contribute positively to their respective fields of study. The fresh students, visibly excited, expressed their enthusiasm about joining one of Nigeria’s leading universities.
