She made the call while delivering the 2026 Distinguished Alumni Personality Lecture titled “Reinventing Yourself: Unlocking Personal Growth in a Changing World,” held on May 26, 2026, at Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo. The event was organised by the university’s Alumni Association.
Speaking to students, faculty members and alumni, Odetola emphasised the importance of self-awareness, discipline and adaptability in shaping personal and professional success.
She noted that meaningful growth often requires difficult transitions, adding that individuals must remain open to change while embracing new opportunities for development.
According to her, sustained progress in life depends on the willingness to evolve and maintain a clear sense of purpose in a rapidly changing world.

In her remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of ACU, Prof. Ebunoluwa Oduwole, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to strengthening alumni engagement in institutional development, monitoring and evaluation processes.

She encouraged the Alumni Association to take active responsibility in initiatives that enhance the university’s growth and visibility.
The ACU Alumni Chapter Chairman, Dr. Peter Oiku, stressed the importance of maintaining strong alumni connections, describing engagement as essential to sustaining institutional impact.
He encouraged students to invest in continuous personal growth and contribute meaningfully to society, while also appreciating the Vice-Chancellor’s leadership and commitment to the university’s advancement.
The event also featured the presentation of a gift to the Vice-Chancellor by members of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), Olabisi Onabanjo University branch, alongside recognition awards presented to Jumoke Odetola and the university by the ACU Alumni Association.

The programme concluded with a theatre showcase in honour of Odetola at the Olaniran Olajire Theatre Studio, featuring performances in dance, drama and artistic expression.
In response, Odetola commended the Performing Arts students and pledged to promote the university’s creative works across her platforms to enhance visibility for emerging talents.
