Born on November 13, 1968, in Taraku, Benue State, Dr. Pillah's academic journey began at Holy Ghost Primary School, Makurdi. She continued her education at Government Army Day Secondary School and Government Technical College, both in Makurdi. Dr. Pillah holds a National Certificate in Education from the College of Education, Minna, and a (link unavailable) in General Agriculture from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. She earned her (link unavailable) in Animal Production and a Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition from the University of Agriculture, Makurdi.

Dr. Pillah’s career spans over two decades at the National Universities Commission (NUC), where she has held several key positions. Her roles have included Academic Planning Officer, Senior Academic Planning Officer, Principal Academic Planning Officer, and Deputy Director. She has been instrumental in collating university statistics, analyzing budget documents, and participating in accreditation processes for agricultural programs across various universities. Currently, as the Deputy Director and Head of the Programme Planning Division at NUC, Dr. Pillah ensures quality control for academic programs, processes applications for new programs, and liaises with accreditation bodies. Her efforts have contributed significantly to the development and maintenance of academic standards in Nigerian universities.
