AKSU Appoints Professor Monday Akpanabiatu as Pioneer Dean of Faculty of Health Sciences

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) , Prof. OtoAbasi E. Akpan has approved the appointment of Professor Monday Akpanabiatu as the Pioneer Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences.

The appointment was announced during the 117th Senate Meeting of the University, held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at the Senate Block, Main Campus, Ikot Akpaden, in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area .

Until his appointment, Professor Akpanabiatu served as the Director, Directorate of Advancement, International Collaboration and Linkages, where he played a key role in promoting institutional partnerships, capacity building, and global academic engagement for the University.

His new appointment marks a significant milestone in AKSU’s academic expansion, particularly in strengthening teaching, research, and professional training in the health sciences. As Pioneer Dean, Professor Akpanabiatu is expected to provide visionary leadership in establishing a solid academic and administrative foundation for the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Members of Senate present at the meeting congratulated him on the well deserved appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to reposition the new faculty in line with the University’s mission of excellence, innovation, and societal impact.
