Akwa Ibom indigenes residing in the United States, under the auspices of the Akwa Ibom State Association of Nigeria (AKISAN), have generously donated exercise books to primary school pupils in support of Governor Umo Eno’s Arise Agenda focused on education. This initiative aligns with the state's commitment to enhancing educational outcomes and fostering a brighter future for its youth.

The Arise Agenda serves as a comprehensive economic framework for the Akwa Ibom State government, prioritizing key areas such as Agriculture, Rural Development, Infrastructure, Security Management, and Economic Development (ARISE). Education is recognized as a vital component within this agenda, aimed at establishing sound educational management.

During a heartfelt distribution ceremony at Christ the King Primary School on Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo—recently revitalized through state government renovations—AKISAN president Mbong Ekiko, an engineer, emphasized the association's commitment to supporting the governor’s educational achievements. He noted that the decision to back the Arise Agenda stems from its ambitious objectives and tangible milestones.

"We have previously visited various projects and supported student innovations and start-ups, but we are particularly excited about the state government’s investments in education. This donation marks our contribution to celebrating Akwa Ibom’s 37th anniversary," Ekiko stated. He highlighted AKISAN's ongoing efforts in promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) outreach, where students have successfully designed robots.

Public Relations Officer of AKISAN, Uduak Inwang, also expressed satisfaction with the progress made in sectors such as aviation, where the establishment of a wholly owned airline by the state government reflects significant advancement. "Akwa Ibom has seen rapid development over the past 37 years since its creation, and our donation of exercise books is a gesture of goodwill to support education," he added.

Head teacher Ukeme Udofia conveyed her gratitude, stating that the donated exercise books would greatly benefit pupils, many of whom come from families struggling to provide adequate school supplies. "It’s heartwarming to see indigenes of the state donating books to our school, especially after its recent improvements. This feels like a dream come true," she said.

Pupils expressed their excitement and appreciation for AKISAN's initiative, which has previously sponsored numerous scholarship schemes for students in the state. The association remains committed to enhancing educational opportunities and supporting the growth of Akwa Ibom State's youth.
