Alake of Egbaland Commends NOUN for Graduating 13 Inmates in Abeokuta
The royal father emphasized the importance of education in national development and pledged his support for the establishment of more NOUN study centres in the state.
The Alake of Egbaland, HRM Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, has commended the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) for graduating 13 inmates at the Abeokuta Correctional Facility in Ogun State.
Oba Gbadebo made the statement when he received a delegation from the Abeokuta Study Centre, led by the centre's director, Dr. Oyekule Adegboyega, at his palace. The royal father emphasized the importance of education in national development and pledged his support for the establishment of more NOUN study centres in the state.
He also expressed his commitment to encouraging other traditional rulers, particularly in Ota and Ifo Local Government Areas, to establish additional study centres.
Earlier, Dr. Adegboyega introduced himself and the university, seeking the monarch's support and blessings for the progress of the centre. He also conveyed greetings from NOUN's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Femi Peters.
The visit included High Chiefs such as Chief Alani Bankole and Prof. Olufemi Balogun, former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
