The university has reiterated that candidates must have written Mathematics as one of their subjects in order to be considered for admission, regardless of their high UTME scores.

"If you intend to study Economics in Alvan and you didn't write Mathematics, you cannot be admitted, even if your UTME score is 400/400," emphasized university officials. This requirement revealed the importance of ensuring the correct subject combinations when applying for admission.
Students who wish to pursue other courses are also advised to verify and meet the specified subject requirements. Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education permits the combination of SSCE (O'level) results for admission, but candidates must ensure that their results do not exceed two sittings.
