Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, received the highly anticipated 2022/2023 Academic Sessions report titled “Solution Agenda: Shaping the Future of Anambra State through Innovative Educational Strategies” on Friday. The report was presented by the State Educational Advisory Council at the Governor’s Lodge Amawbia, setting the stage for a transformative shift in the state's education landscape.

In a groundbreaking move, Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, received the highly anticipated 2022/2023 Academic Sessions report titled “Solution Agenda: Shaping the Future of Anambra State through Innovative Educational Strategies” on Friday. The report was presented by the State Educational Advisory Council at the Governor’s Lodge Amawbia, setting the stage for a transformative shift in the state's education landscape.

The Vice Chairman of the Council, Chief Osita Chidoka, made a riveting presentation on behalf of the 18-member Council, inaugurated with Governor Soludo at the helm. Their mission: to pioneer new pathways for delivering quality education and enhancing learning outcomes in Anambra's school system. The Honourable Commissioner for Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma Udeh, served as the Secretary.

According to Chidoka, Anambra State boasted a total of 1098 public and 2694 private Early Child Care and Primary Schools in the 2022/2023 academic session. The public segment alone enrolled 255,897 pupils, while in the secondary school segment, there were 263 public and 769 private secondary schools, accommodating 133,741 students in public secondary schools.

Anambra's consistent top-tier performance in WAEC and JAMB scores over the years was highlighted, positioning the state as an education powerhouse. The Council, in their exhaustive research, engaged stakeholders across the education spectrum, held virtual meetings, and analyzed educational frameworks from six countries worldwide, with a focus on Africa.

The report's key recommendations include a groundbreaking funding mechanism involving community participation, an education trust fund, and enhanced funding for teacher recruitment and training. Additionally, the Council proposed repurposing the state's education platforms into a single technology platform for streamlined access to information, training videos, student results, and performance data.

The school inspection and supervision framework is set for a redesign, incorporating grading and ranking based on predefined criteria such as infrastructure quality, state standardized test performance, learning outcomes, student performance in national examinations, and teacher qualifications, attendance, and performance.

Governor Soludo lauded the report's excellence and promptly directed the implementation of key recommendations. These include introducing a new funding model for public schools, aligning with his vision of free and qualitative education, setting new standards for school inspection and supervision, and developing a strategy for grading and ranking schools across the state.

The governor emphasized the significance of this transformative journey, praising the collaboration with volunteers from the Unlock Naija and Chidoka Top Fans Platforms. As Anambra pioneers innovative solutions for education, it sets a stellar example amid national challenges, fostering a brighter future for the state's children. The governor called for celebration and widespread acknowledgment of this monumental achievement.
