Aspira Nigeria Donates Free Laundromat to Bayero University Kano Students

Bayero University Kano (BUK) students can now access free laundry services following the donation of a fully-equipped laundromat by Aspira Nigeria Limited, the maker of Viva detergent. 

The "Viva Laundromat" project was launched on Tuesday at BUK's old campus. This facility, which includes approximately 40 washing machines and pressing irons, aims to alleviate the burden on students struggling to find laundry services while studying. This initiative follows similar successful launches at the University of Lagos and the University of Ibadan.

During the inauguration ceremony, BUK Vice Chancellor Prof. Sagir Adamu Abbas expressed his gratitude, noting that the laundromat would allow students to focus more on their studies. He also mentioned that Aspira Nigeria donated essential items to the university, such as shirts, jackets, raincoats, and rain boots.

Lynda Aguocha, Head of Marketing at Aspira Nigeria, emphasized the company's commitment to positively impacting students' lives. "Our mission extends beyond cleanliness; it’s about fostering a sense of community, relieving financial strain, and empowering students to focus on what truly matters," she said.

Prof. Binta Jibril, in her welcoming address, highlighted the facility's dedication to students and its role in supporting their well-being and academic success. "Let us celebrate this day as a symbol of partnership and progress," she added.

Abbas Jaafar, General Manager of Aspira Nigeria, noted that the initiative is part of the company's corporate social responsibility and dedication to the community. "Supporting students in their academic journey is crucial for building a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria," he said.

The Student Union Government President, Comrade Nasir Ibrahim Isa, expressed gratitude on behalf of the students, stating that the laundromat would help them allocate more time to their studies, especially those who cannot afford commercial laundry services.
