Federal University Gusau Governing Council Approves Appointments of New DVCs and Staff Promotions
This move follows successful external assessments and complies with the university's established rules and processes
The Governing Council of the Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) has ratified the appointment of two new Deputy Vice Chancellors (DVCs) at its 28th meeting, held on November 20, 2024.
Dr. Lawal Sa'adu has been appointed as Deputy Vice Chancellor for Administration, while Dr. Aliyu Usman Moyi assumes the role of Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Prior to these appointments, Dr. Sa'adu was the Dean of Student Affairs, and Dr. Moyi served as the Director of Academic Planning.
In addition to the DVC appointments, the Council has approved the promotion of 11 academic staff members to the ranks of Professor and Reader for the 2022 and 2023 promotion years. This move follows successful external assessments and complies with the university's established rules and processes. The promotions, which are set to take effect from January 2024, include staff from various faculties, including Education, Humanities, Science, and Social Sciences.
Furthermore, the Governing Council has also approved the revised terms and conditions of service for staff, which will apply to the current 2024 promotion exercise. These updates are expected to enhance the welfare and progression of academic staff at the university.
