ASUP Sends a Congratulatory Message To Engr. Dr Temitope John Alake on his appointment as the 7th substantive Rector of the  Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti (FEDPOADO),myschoolnews reporting.

On behalf of the entire membership of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti Chapter, the leadership of the Union under the Chairmanship of Engr. Obafemi Emmanuel Adubi congratulates Engr. Dr Temitope John Alake, on his appointment as the 7th substantive Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Born on the 23rd of February, 1965, Alake hails from Are Ekiti, Ekiti State. He attended Lower Holy Trinity Primary School, Aisegba Ekiti and Egbe-Oba High School Ikole Ekiti where he obtained the first School Leaving Certificate and West African Examination Council Certificates respectively in 1976 and 1981. He obtained a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering in 1983 from The Polytechnic, Owo and a Higher National Diploma in Electrical Electronics Engineering with a specialization in Electronics and Telecommunication in 1986 from the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti. He obtained Post Graduate Diploma degrees in Technical Education at the University of Benin and Electrical Electronics Engineering from the Edo State University Ekpoma respectively in 1993 and 1997. Alake holds an M.Eng degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the Nnamdi Azikwe University in the year 2005 and a PhD in Electronics Engineering from the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo-State in 2014.

Before his assumption of duty in the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Alake was a Master Grade II Teacher at the Ondo State Teaching Service Commission between December 1987 and May 1991. He also worked as a Senior Instructor at the Ondo State College of Education, Ikere Ekiti between July 1991 – August 1997. Alake resumed the service of the Polytechnic as a Principal Instructor II in the year 1997 and rose through the ranks to become a Chief Lecturer in the year 2015. Alake occupied several academic, professional and administrative positions within and outside the Polytechnic since his assumption of duty. To mention a few, he was Head of the Department of Electrical Electronics Engineering between September 2010 and October 2014, Sub-Dean of Students Affairs between May 2014 – 2016, a member of the Polytechnic Conflict Resolution Committee between 2012 -2016, a member of the Polytechnic Curriculum Board Committee, member of the Olusegun Obasanjo Centre for Engineering Innovation Committee, member of the Polytechnic Research Committee, and member of the NBTE Accreditation Committee. He was External Examiner to various institutions which include the Federal Polytechnic Ede, Kwara State Polytechnic Ilorin, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo, and The Federal Polytechnic Offa. He is a member of the National Board for Technical Education Accreditation Team and an Examiner of the Electrical division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ekiti State Branch. Alake occupied a sabbatical position as a Senior Lecturer between August 2016 and July 2017 at Landmark University in Omu-Aran, Kwara State. To date, he is an Adjunct Lecturer at the Ekiti State Polytechnic Isan-Ekiti Nigeria and was the Coordinating Dean during the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 academic sessions.

Alake is a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, a full member of the Council of the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, a member of the Nigeria Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, a member of the National Association of Teachers in Technology and member of the COREN Engineering Regulations Monitoring. He is a well-published author with over 50 publications to his credit. Alake had received several awards and recognitions for service, part of which includes the Advancement of Engineering Education recognition given by the Nigerian Society of Engineers Ado-Ekiti Chapter and the Exemplary Leadership in Youth Ministry Award of Excellence issued by the Gospel Faith Mission International.

Alake was the 5th Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics of the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti Chapter between the year 2005 and 2007. It is hoped that his appointment as the Rector of the institution will improve staff and student welfare, advance socioeconomic growth and promote the technological education necessary to birth a vibrant and self-sustaining Nigerian Economy.
