ASUU-ABSU Chapter Demands Payment of 11-Month Salary Arrears
The ASUU chapter at Abia State University is urging the Abia State government to promptly pay 11 months of unpaid salary arrears and resolve ongoing salary payment issues.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Abia State University (ABSU) chapter has refuted claims made by the Abia State government regarding the payment of salaries to university staff. According to ASUU-ABSU, the situation regarding salary payments is far from the government's assertions.
The press release signed by Dr. Chidi S. Mbah, Chairperson, and Dr. Victor U. Obisike, Secretary of ASUU-ABSU, emphasized that contrary to recent statements, only a minority of staff who have accounts with commercial banks received their April salaries, and even fewer received May salaries. Disturbingly, discrepancies such as unexplained deductions from paid salaries have been reported, ranging from eight to fifty-three thousand Naira.
