ASUU Announces Nationwide Closure of All Universities From Friday

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced a nationwide shutdown of all universities, effective from Friday, November 21, 2025, until further notice.
This decision follows the expiration of a one-month ultimatum given to the Federal Government to address key issues, including welfare, funding, and working conditions for academic staff.
The union has expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of negotiations and accused the government of undermining the process. ASUU emphasizes that the current offer will not improve working conditions or attract scholars to Nigerian universities.
