ATBU Alumnus Emerges as Rotary International President-Elect

Engr. Olayinka Hakeem Babalola, an alumnus of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, has been announced as the President-elect of Rotary International for the 2026/2027 Rotary year.

This historic achievement makes him the only second African and second Nigerian ever to lead the global humanitarian organization. 

Rotarian Babalola, a member of Rotary Club of Trans Amadi, was selected by the Rotary International and will officially assume office on 1st July 2026.

Brief highlight of his remarkable journey are:

- Joined Rotary in 1994, after beginning as a Rotaractor in 1988  

- Former District Governor (2011/12)

- Vice President of Rotary International (2019/20)

- Former RI Board Member (2018/20) 

- Adviser on the Nigeria National PolioPlus Committee

Beyond Rotary, Babalola is a trained engineer and attorney with over 25 years of experience in the oil & gas industry. He worked with Shell PLC across 4 continents. He is also the founder of Riviera Services Ltd. and Lead and Change Consulting. Babalola has earned major recognitions in the country and beyond.
