IBBUL Partners with Berghaus Limited to Build 80-Bed Hostel
Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL), has partnered with Berghaus Limited to construct an 80-bed hostel, aimed at addressing the acute shortage of student accommodation on campus. The partnership was announced during a meeting between the university management and the investors.
The proposed hostel complex will cover 4,804 square meters and provide 40 rooms each for male and female students, with complete facilities and reliable energy systems. The project is expected to ease accommodation pressure on students, with less than 10% of the over 20,000 students currently accommodated on campus.
The university emphasized the need for a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to ensure mutual benefits and retain a stake in the project. Berghaus Limited has expressed commitment to delivering a modern hostel complex that will enhance the learning environment and provide affordable accommodation for students.
The project will also serve as a platform for knowledge transfer, with professionals from the company collaborating with students from the university's Departments of Architecture, Engineering, and Mechanical Sciences during the construction phase.
The university management has assured the investors of its full support and cooperation to ensure the successful execution of the project. The hostel project is expected to significantly ease accommodation pressure on students and contribute to the socio-economic development of Lapai and its environs.
