The Augustine University has deepened its international academic footprint with a new strategic partnership involving The African Historical Society (AHS), aimed at advancing historical scholarship, research collaboration, and African heritage studies.

The engagement took place on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at the University Senate Chamber, where the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Alaba Akinwale, OP, led the University Management team in discussions with Dr. (Ts’gye) Rachel T. Leslie, Executive Director of AHS.

Dr. Leslie, a specialist in Semitic and Egyptian Languages and Literatures, engaged the University leadership in deliberations focused on strengthening academic cooperation and expanding research-driven initiatives in African history and culture.

Both parties identified key areas of collaboration, including joint research projects, academic exchanges, conferences, and structured programmes designed to promote deeper understanding of Africa’s historical identity and intellectual heritage.

The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed Augustine University’s strategic direction toward global partnerships and academic excellence, stressing that the institution remains committed to knowledge production that is both relevant and socially impactful.
