AWTPN Pledges ₦50,000 Prize for Top URP Students at ABU

The Association of Women Town Planners of Nigeria (AWTPN) has pledged a cash prize of ₦50,000 for students with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning (URP), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

This gesture is part of the association's efforts to enhance academic excellence and promote the profession.

In addition to the cash prize, AWTPN has donated several textbooks relevant to URP studies to the department. The association's National Chairperson, TPL Rekiyat A Fache, made the pledge during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed.

TPL Rekiyat emphasized the significance of urban and regional planning profession and called for strong mentorship in the field. She urged town planners to always make themselves available for guidance and support, and expressed the association's commitment to ensuring that URP students on National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) are posted to the right places to practice with diligence.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, appreciated AWTPN officials for their visit and prayers. He assured them of his commitment to the growth and development of the profession and pledged the university's readiness to collaborate with the association for mutual benefit.
