Bayero University Kano Students Express Concerns Over Academic Calendar

Students of Bayero University Kano (BUK) have raised concerns over the university's academic calendar, citing its length and timing as major issues.

In a statement, a student representative expressed disappointment that the university management had not taken into account the feedback provided by students regarding the proposed 2023/2024 academic calendar.

The students argued that the calendar, which spans 10 months per session, is unnecessarily long and has resulted in a situation where the second semester commenced on November 25, just a month before the December break.

The students proposed that the academic calendar be revised to an 8-month session, with 4 months per semester, allowing for a more balanced and manageable academic year.

Furthermore, the students suggested that the university consider adopting a 2.5-semester system per year, which they believe would be more beneficial for students.

The students urged the university management to take their concerns seriously and revise the academic calendar to better suit the needs of the students.
