Bayero University Kano (BUK) is set to diversify its funding by partnering with Lotus Capital Limited, a leading ethical investment firm specializing in Islamic finance. This was revealed during a visit by Lotus Capital’s team to the office of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, on Tuesday, October 2, 2024.

During the visit, Professor Abbas welcomed the initiative, stating that the university is exploring ways to reduce its reliance on traditional government funding due to dwindling federal support. He highlighted the growing student population and the need for additional resources. Professor Abbas requested that Lotus Capital draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize the partnership.

Lotus Capital's Business Development Manager, Aminu Abdul Hakeem, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration and presented investment opportunities, including Halal Fixed Income and Mudarabba, which are Sharia-compliant and offer quarterly returns. He emphasized the potential benefits of the partnership for both institutions.
