Rev. Dr. Frederick Ikyaan, the Benue State Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management, met with the Governing Council of the College of Education Oju. The council, led by Chairman George Member Genyi, aimed to establish a collaborative relationship with the Commissioner and address pressing challenges facing the institution.
During the meeting, Commissioner Ikyaan welcomed the council members and engaged in fruitful discussions about the college's needs and operational hurdles. He committed to arranging a meeting with the Governor to further address the issues raised, ensuring the council can work more effectively.
Mrs. Genyi highlighted that the visit was intended to familiarize the council with the Commissioner while presenting a document detailing the challenges they face along with potential solutions.
Established in 1981 as Advanced Teacher's College Oju and reopened in 1992, the College of Education Oju aims to produce qualified teachers for primary and secondary schools. It offers a variety of programs, including NCE and degree programs, across disciplines such as Arts and Social Sciences, Early Childhood Education, and Vocational and Technical Education.
