BIRS Commits to Supporting BSU’s Department of Taxation
In a significant development for Benue State University (BSU), Mr. Sunday Odagba, Acting Executive Chairman of the Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), has pledged the service's support for the University’s Department of Taxation.
In a significant development for Benue State University (BSU), Mr. Sunday Odagba, Acting Executive Chairman of the Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), has pledged the service's support for the University’s Department of Taxation. The pledge was made during Mr. Odagba’s familiarization visit to the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tor Iorapuu, at the administrative building.
Mr. Odagba expressed BIRS’s readiness to support the department in several key areas. He announced plans to encourage the formation of a tax club within the department, aimed at enabling students to participate in national and international tax quiz competitions. Additionally, he assured that the service would assist in providing comprehensive training for students aspiring to become tax professionals.
Accompanied by Board Secretary/Legal Adviser, Ushahemba Dekaa, Esq., and other senior management staff, Mr. Odagba's visit was intended to foster collaboration and synergy between BIRS and the University, enhancing the overall development of the state.
In response, Vice-Chancellor Professor Iorapuu extended his gratitude to Mr. Odagba and his team for their visit and for supporting the establishment of the Taxation department. He acknowledged the valuable contributions of BIRS in advocating for the department's creation and expressed the University's willingness to engage in further discussions to solidify this partnership.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Professor Mike Odey, the Provost of the College of Health Sciences, the Acting Registrar of the University, the University Librarian, and other members of the University’s management team.
