Borno Governor, UNIMAID VC Lead Delegation to Thank Dr. Indimi for ₦2 Billion Donation

A high-level delegation led by the Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum Mni, FNSE, paid an appreciation visit to Dr. Muhammadu Indimi on Tuesday, 2nd December, 2025 at his residence. recognizing his recent donation of 2 billion naira to the University of Maiduguri. The gesture drew praise from across the state, bringing together key stakeholders who described the contribution as a landmark investment in education.

The delegation included the Vice Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, former Vice Chancellors Professor J.D Amin, Professor Mala M. Daura and Professor Aliyu Shugaba, members of the Borno Elders Forum, the representative of the Shehu of Borno, the Chief Imam of Borno, Commissioners, the Head of the Borno State Civil Service and the Chief of Staff. Their presence reflected the broad impact of Dr. Indimi’s support on both the university and the wider community.

Speaking during the visit, the Governor said the donation would significantly strengthen the university’s capacity to deliver quality education, especially at a time when institutions are facing financial pressure. He commended Dr. Indimi’s long-standing commitment to education in Borno state, the whole country, and across the world.

Responding to the delegation, Dr. Indimi said he was moved by their visit and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting education in Borno and beyond. He explained that the progress of young people remains central to his philanthropic work and expressed hope that the contribution would inspire further investments in the sector such as the Borno State University and the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital as well.
