Borno State University Management Pays Courtesy Call on Education Commissioner

In a bid to address key challenges and outline a sustainable development plan, the management of Borno State University (BOSU), led by Vice Chancellor Professor Babagana Gutti, paid a courtesy call on the Commissioner of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Engr. Lawan Abba Wakilbe.

During the visit, Professor Gutti expressed gratitude for the commissioner's consistent support in strengthening BOSU. He presented a comprehensive five-year development blueprint aimed at building on existing achievements while addressing critical gaps. The plan includes upgrading facilities, constructing permanent sites for faculties, and creating new faculties to accommodate the university's growing student population.

Professor Gutti highlighted ongoing efforts to secure support from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TetFund) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). He noted that funds previously requested through the commissioner have been allocated, with work already underway on several projects.

Despite these strides, Professor Gutti raised concerns about critical infrastructure gaps, including the lack of a fire-fighting vehicle, inadequate water supply, and poor drainage systems. He updated the commissioner on BOSU's recent accident victims and thanked him for his concern and support, including a donation of two million naira for immediate medical needs.

Commissioner Wakilbe also charged the management to commence preparations for the university's first convocation ceremony, which will showcase BOSU's achievements and attract more opportunities. He announced plans to visit the institution in the upcoming academic session to discuss further strategic plans.
