BOUESTI Now Fastest-Growing State University in Africa. Says VC

The Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science, and Technology (BOUESTI) in Ikere-Ekiti has been recognized as the fastest-growing state university in Africa, as announced by Vice-Chancellor Professor Olufemi Adeoluwa during the inaugural matriculation ceremony for part-time programmes at the Agbado-Ekiti Study Centre.

The Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science, and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI), has officially been recognized as the fastest-growing state university in Africa. This announcement was made by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olufemi Adeoluwa, during the inaugural matriculation ceremony for part-time programmes at the Agbado-Ekiti Study Centre for the 2023/2024 academic session.

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Research, Professor Oluyede Aturamu, the VC highlighted the university's commitment to expanding access to education, noting that 75 students have already enrolled in various degree programmes at the newly established centre.

In his address, Professor Adeoluwa emphasized the university's dedication to ensuring that its part-time study centres are equipped with the necessary facilities and qualified personnel before their establishment. He reassured stakeholders of BOUESTI’s intention to provide a conducive and effective learning environment for both staff and students.

"We have thoroughly assessed the community's readiness and resources because BOUESTI is the fastest-growing state university in Africa. We took our time to ensure everything is in place before launching this initiative," he stated. "The same quality of education and facilities available on the main campus will be provided here, and it is the same senate that will approve their results. My advice to the students is to excel and eventually transition to the main campus."

The local traditional ruler, Oba Adesina Samuel Obafemi, expressed his gratitude for the establishment of the study centre, highlighting its significance for the community. "The entire community is delighted, as this marks the beginning of development and opportunities for our sons and daughters, especially for those who are farmers and might not have otherwise had the chance to pursue their dreams. The benefits will extend beyond education, fostering overall community growth."

Professor Lawrence Ademilua, Chairman of the Agbado-Ekiti Elites Forum, also spoke about the positive impact of the study centre on the local economy and society. As the first university study centre in the Gbonyin Local Government Area of Ekiti State, he envisions its potential to evolve into a full-fledged university in the future.

With the establishment of the Agbado-Ekiti Study Centre, BOUESTI is set to make significant strides in educational accessibility and community development in Ekiti State.
