Kiara Gilbert, a talented young woman hailing from North Carolina, United States, has been awarded the prestigious Marshall Scholarship, enabling her to pursue two master’s degrees at universities in the United Kingdom.

As one of the 46 recipients for the 2021 cohort, Kiara's accomplishment underscores her exceptional academic prowess and leadership potential. The Marshall Scholarship aims to foster strong ties between the United States and the United Kingdom by providing intellectually distinguished individuals like Kiara the opportunity to cultivate their skills as future leaders.

Having graduated from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in African American studies and a certificate in humanistic studies, Kiara is poised to embark on her next academic journey. For her first year of graduate study, she plans to pursue a Master of Philosophy in Criticism and Culture at the University of Cambridge. Subsequently, for her second year, she intends to pursue a Master of Philosophy in Political Thought and Intellectual Theory at SOAS University of London.

Kiara's academic pursuits are fueled by her desire to make both traditional and non-traditional philosophies accessible to marginalized communities. As a first-generation, low-income student activist, she is deeply committed to promoting justice and equity. She aims to leverage her Marshall Scholarship and the resources it provides to further her advocacy within disenfranchised communities.
