BUK, ICAN Strengthen Ties for Mutual Benefit
The Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University Kano (BUK), Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, has reaffirmed the institution's commitment to collaborating with professional bodies, particularly the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Kano District Society.
During a courtesy visit by ICAN's leaders, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of collaboration between academia and industry. He highlighted potential areas of cooperation, including student internships, training, entrepreneurship development, job placement, research, and capacity building.
The Chairperson of ICAN's Kano District Society, Hajiya Hadiza Gambo, stated that the Institute aims to promote professionalism and excellence in accounting and finance in Kano State. She expressed appreciation for the existing cordial relationship between ICAN and BUK.
The Vice-Chancellor also explored opportunities for collaboration within the framework of the Core Curriculum Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS), a recent initiative by the federal government. This collaboration would enable students to seamlessly transition into industries and professional bodies after graduation.
The ICAN team, led by Malam Ado Muhammad Abubakar, thanked BUK's management for the warm reception and assured the university of their continued commitment to training students, awarding scholarships, and engaging interns.
