BUK Staff Hold Special Prayer Sessions for Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Musa

Hundreds of staff of Bayero University, Kano, on Thursday, 4th December 2025, converged at the Convocation Arena to offer special prayers for the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Haruna Musa, FSI, in recognition of his unwavering commitment to improving staff welfare and advancing the university’s development.

Staff from all unions—cutting across both Muslim and Christian communities—participated in the prayers, describing the gathering as a sincere expression of appreciation for the Vice-Chancellor’s deliberate efforts to reposition staff welfare and strengthen the institution’s growth trajectory.

The prayers were also extended to the Registrar, Malam Haruna Aliyu; the Deputy Vice-Chancellors; the Bursar; and the University Librarian.

Addressing the gathering via a phone call, Professor Musa expressed deep gratitude for the gesture and assured staff that his administration would continue to prioritise their welfare. His message was received with enthusiastic applause from the crowd.

He encouraged all staff members to remain committed and diligent in their responsibilities, emphasising that collective hard work is vital to sustaining the university’s progress. The Vice-Chancellor praised the contributions of previous administrations, particularly that of his immediate predecessor, Professor Sagir Abbas, and pledged to consolidate and expand on their achievements.

Professor Musa also disclosed that new initiatives and strategic plans were underway to enhance the overall well-being of staff and students, reaffirming his administration’s resolve to drive continuous improvement in service delivery and institutional excellence.
