BUK Strengthens Academic Integrity Through Comprehensive Examination Monitoring Exercise

The Management of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has initiated a wide-ranging monitoring exercise across all faculties and departments to ensure the highest standards of conduct during the ongoing Second Semester 2024/2025 examination period.

According to a general circular released on February 18, 2026, by the Directorate of Public Affairs, the exercise aims to enforce full compliance with university guidelines and safeguard the credibility of its academic certificates.

Designated monitoring teams have been tasked with systematic visits to examination venues to assess critical operational areas, including:

Punctuality: Ensuring examinations commence exactly as scheduled.

Invigilation & Seating: Assessing the adequacy of staffing and the orderliness of arrangements.

Venue Suitability: Monitoring lighting, ventilation, sanitation, and the accessibility of toilet facilities.

Student Comportment: Observing the general discipline and presence of both students and officials.

Preliminary findings indicate a high level of compliance across many sectors, with most examinations starting on time and students conducting themselves in a calm and disciplined manner.

While noting the successes, the monitoring exercise also highlighted several areas requiring urgent intervention. Reported challenges included occasional commencement delays, overcrowding in specific halls, insufficient invigilators in large venues, and localized issues with furniture and sanitation.

In a proactive response, the University Management has directed the immediate implementation of the following corrective measures:

The University Management, through the Director of Public Affairs, Lamara Garba, expressed appreciation for the cooperation demonstrated by staff and students. The administration called for a sustained collective commitment to upholding the integrity and orderliness of the university’s examination system.
