BUK to Strengthen Security On-Campus, Promises Improved Welfare for Security Personnel - VC
The management of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) is committed to protecting the lives and property of its community members through training, retraining, and improved welfare of its security personnel, according to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sagir Adamu Abbas.

Prof. Abbas made this assurance during a courtesy call by members of the University's Committee on Audit of Security Personnel in his office on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. He thanked the team for their commitment and hard work, acknowledging that the university had experienced security breaches in all its campuses recently.

The management is taking a holistic approach to address the security situation, having spent N30 million on security kits and set aside another N30 million for overtime allowances. The Vice Chancellor emphasized that security personnel found negligent would be sanctioned, and the university plans to employ security personnel with secondary school qualifications and relevant credits to improve its security architecture.

Prof. Abbas assured that the committee's recommendations would be implemented, advising that the audit exercise should be extended to all university units.
