BUK Vice Chancellor Urges JIBWIS to Reassess Almajiri Education System
The Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, has urged the Jama'atu Izalatul Bidi'a Wa'Ikamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) to reassess the Almajiri education system in order to integrate Western and Islamic education.
Professor Abbas made the call during a courtesy visit by the National Chairman of the Ulama'u Council of JIBWIS, Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, and his team to the university.
The Vice Chancellor commended JIBWIS for promoting Islamic scholarship and unity through its annual National Qur'anic Recitation Competition, which was supported by BUK.
He emphasized the importance of acquiring knowledge and urged the Ulamas to enlighten their members and the general public on the significance of seeking knowledge.
Professor Abbas also assured the team that his administration has been reaching out to philanthropists and corporate organizations to assist in paying registration fees for students.
The JIBWIS team, in turn, expressed gratitude to BUK for its support and sought the university's assistance in establishing the proposed Fortune University in Jos.
