The Bayero University Intermediate and Junior Quarters Community Forum (New Campus) recently visited the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, to address challenges faced by the community and solicit support from the University Management.

Comrade Tijani Kazeem Abiola, Chairman of the Forum, expressed gratitude for the University Management's support in bringing private water tankers for timely water supply to the community.

Highlighted concerns included security challenges, unidentified individuals entering the campus, insufficient street lighting, and the need for an overhead tank for improved water supply.

The Chairman urged the University to fence the area to enhance security and protect lives and property.

Prof. Sagir Adamu Abbas assured the Forum of funding secured for the perimeter fencing of the new campus, approximately 14 kilometers. The University has also engaged Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service to improve security.

The community requested additional solar streetlights, and Prof. Abbas informed them that the University had applied for 1000 solar streetlights from the Federal Ministry of Works to address security challenges.

Emphasized the importance of protecting the solar panels to prevent burglary.

Water Supply Enhancement:

The Forum appealed for the installation of an overhead tank to improve water supply. Prof. Abbas explained the challenges, including the need for booster machines and potential water wastage, associated with transitioning from a borehole to an overhead tank.
