The Vice-Chancellor of Caleb University, Prof. Olalekan Asikhia, has called for a renewed national focus on human capital development, urging Nigerians—especially young people—to prioritize character, competence, and creativity as core drivers of personal success and national transformation.

He made the call at the public presentation of two books authored by academic and entrepreneur, Dr. Ayokunnu Olowoporoku, titled “See It, Say It, Do It: A Three-Step Guide to Achieving Success” and “Lifewire: Philosophies for Daily Living,” held at the MUSON Centre, Lagos.

The event attracted academics, business leaders, professionals, students, and policymakers.

Prof. Asikhia emphasized that Nigeria’s future progress will depend less on natural resources and more on the quality of its human capital, describing people development as the real engine of national growth.

According to him, the books provide practical guidance for individuals seeking direction and sustainable success in a fast-changing and competitive world.

“The nations that will lead the future are those that intentionally develop their people. Character, competence and creativity remain the most valuable currencies of the 21st century. If Nigeria is to attain its full potential, we must invest deliberately in developing minds, nurturing talent and building leaders who can transform ideas into impact,” he said.

He described the works as timely contributions that promote ethical values, purposeful living, and leadership excellence, noting that they offer practical frameworks for turning ideas into measurable outcomes.
