Caretaker Allegedly K!lls Student Over Rent Dispute at Federal Polytechnic Nekede
A student at Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Mr. Anthony, was fatally injured by a lodge caretaker following a dispute over rent renewal. The caretaker allegedly struck Anthony with a wooden stick during an argument, leading to his collapse and subsequent death at a hospital in Owerri. In a shocking incident at Federal Polytechnic Nekede, tragedy befell the institution as a student was allegedly killed by a caretaker over a dispute concerning house rent.
The victim, identified as Mr. Anthony, an ND1 student in the Department of Building Technology, reportedly resided at Ezinwanne Lodge in Nekede. According to sources, the caretaker of the lodge had demanded that Anthony renew his rent, but the student pleaded for more time to settle his bills.

Tensions escalated during the exchange, leading to a confrontation between Anthony and the caretaker. Witnesses claim the caretaker struck Anthony on the head with a wooden stick during the heated argument. The blow proved fatal as Anthony collapsed on the spot.
Promptly, Anthony was rushed to the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Owerri, where medical staff worked to save his life. Tragically, despite efforts, Anthony succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the medical center.
The incident has sparked outrage among students of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, who have demanded justice for their deceased peer. Meanwhile, authorities have taken the caretaker into police custody pending further investigation into the circumstances surrounding Anthony's death.
