Chief Imam of Sultan Bello Mosque visits FULafia, vows to champion new mosque building
The Chief Imam of the popular Sultan Bello Mosque, Kaduna, Kaduna State, Sheikh (Dr) Muhammad Abu Suleiman, has promised to work hard for the realisation of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) central mosque.

It would be recalled that the foundation laying ceremony for the building of the mosque expected to gulp the sum of N400 million was held last year with the Governor of Nasarawa State, Eng. Abdullahi A. Sule, laying the first block.
The chief imam of the revered mosque in Kaduna, Abu Suleiman, stated his readiness to help in the process of mobilising resources for the mosque in FULafia when he and other members of his entourage visited the site of the mosque in Lafia.
Praising Abdul Rahman for his contributions to education and Islam, the chief imam said that the Sultan Bello Mosque Foundation would be delighted to facilitate the construction of the FULafia mosque.
He, also, promised to collaborate with other stakeholders and philanthropic bodies for the quick realisation of the FULafia mosque.
He disclosed that the foundation had been instrumental to the construction of more than 60 mosques across the country, urging stakeholders and Muslims staff of the University to channel their wealth to the building of the mosque to attain the favour of Allah.
Speaking, the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, appreciated the chief imam for support aimed at building a befitting Juma’a mosque in FULafia.
He said: “When I came into office as a vice-chancellor of FULafia, I realised that the University did not have good places of worship for staff within the premise. Muslims, especially, had to go to the town to observe their Friday prayer and some of them never cared to come back to their office after they finished their prayer.”

He said that unfortunate development had forced him to provide space for the two major religions on campus, Christianity and Islam, to build their worship centres.
Abdul Rahman said that the FULafia mosque building, when completed, would accommodate 1,000 worshippers and twice that number outside.

He thanked some stakeholders including the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammed I, Alhaji Danladi Halilu Envulu’anza, Dr Hassan Liman (SAN) for their contributions to the process of building the mosque.
Those who accompanied the chief imam on the visit included Malam Usman Abubakar, Walin Malali, Professor Ali Ishaq Shugaba, Professor Umar D. Muhammed, Dr. Tanko Muhammad Baitullah and Mustapha Dahiru.
