Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), is set to host a Chinese Language School on campus through a new partnership with the Chinese government. This initiative, confirmed during a meeting on October 25, 2024, aims to support Continuous Professional Development, bolster Enterprise Industrial Education, and deepen academic and cultural ties between China and Nigeria.

The meeting, held at the Vice-Chancellor's Conference Room, saw FUNAAB’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, express the university's commitment to collaborations that enhance opportunities for staff and student exchanges, joint degrees, and research partnerships.

The Chinese delegation, led by Mr. Chris Wang from the Chinese Ministry of Education, Beijing, alongside Mr. Tope Anthony, Public Relations Manager of the Ogun GUANGDONG Free Trade Zone, emphasized that the language school would provide students with practical skills and hands-on experience through local resources.

Following the discussions, the delegation toured key campus facilities, including the 3MW Hybrid Solar Project, Oil Palm Processing Factory, and Central Laboratory at the Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment (CEADESE), as well as several computer laboratories. FUNAAB presented the delegates with a hamper of university-produced items as a token of appreciation.

Attendees included Ag. Registrar, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Dawodu; Dean, Student Affairs, Prof. Festus Adeosun; Director, Institute of Communication and General Studies, Prof. Remi Aduradola; Director, CEADESE, Prof. Adeboye Fafiolu; and others from key university departments and initiatives.
