Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Celebrates His Majesty, Obi Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, on the 22nd Ofala Festival

Onitsha, Anambra State — On Saturday, October 14th, 2023, the Management of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Greg Nwakoby, joined the vibrant celebrations of the 22nd Ofala Festival of His Majesty, Obi Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, the revered traditional ruler of the ancient Onitsha Kingdom.
In a warm homage, Vice Chancellor Prof. Nwakoby praised the steadfastness of Obi Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe in upholding the prestigious cultural heritage of the Onitsha community throughout the years. He highlighted the university's strong and positive relationship with the traditional ruler, citing the recent collaboration on the institution and commencement of an Annual Public Lecture in partnership with the NIPR, Anambra State Chapter. Prof. Nwakoby emphasized that this collaboration exemplifies the quality and impact of the relationship, asserting the university's commitment to sustaining and expanding this partnership.
During the celebration, Prof. Nwakoby expressed heartfelt prayers for His Majesty, wishing him a long life and robust health. He extended these prayers to the entire Members of the Cabinet, hoping that they continue to use their influence to uplift the Onitsha people and contribute significantly to the progress of Anambra State.
Accompanying the Vice Chancellor were key figures from the university, including Deputy Vice Chancellors Prof. Osita Chiaghanam and Prof. Mathias Ananti, the University Acting Bursar Dr. Nath Udezo, the Head of the Department of Mass Communication and Anambra State Chairman of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Harrison Madubueze, and the University Public Relations Officer.
