Class Representative Forum, BUK, Meets with NELFUND Desk Officer to Address Student Concerns

The Class Representative Forum of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), met with the BUK NELFUND Desk Officer on October 23, 2024, to discuss pressing issues affecting students.

The meeting tackled three key areas: discrepancies in NELFUND loan disbursements, refund delays, and the status of newly verified students.

The NELFUND Desk Officer attributed the variation in loan disbursements to an error from the NELFUND Office. This mistake resulted in some students receiving more than their required school fees, while others received less. The officer assured that the issue has been rectified, and the school has been asked to return excess funds. NELFUND's Abuja office also requested a list of students who received lesser disbursements to facilitate balancing.

Refunds are being processed in batches of 100 students, with the latest batch completed during the meeting. The refunds will undergo approval from the Vice-Chancellor, Financial Officer, and Cash Officer before disbursement.

The NELFUND Desk Officer clarified that only students verified before mid-July will benefit from the current session's NELFUND loan. Students verified after this deadline will have to wait for the next session.

Students who used third-party accounts, microfinance banks, or submitted incorrect account details are advised to visit the NELFUND Desk Office at BUK's Senate Building (3rd floor) to make corrections. The office emphasized that refunding requires accurate student account details, phone numbers, and matriculation numbers.

This meeting demonstrates the Class Representative Forum's commitment to addressing student concerns and ensuring a smoother NELFUND process.
