COOU Ag. Vice Chancellor Urges Freshmen to Forge Legacy of Excellence
Prof. Omenugha of COOU motivates 100L students to prioritize academics, environmental stewardship, and uphold standards for a brighter future.
In an impassioned address to the 100 Level students of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) at the Uli Campus, the Ag. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, fnipr, emphasized the importance of consciously building a legacy of excellence from the very start of their university journey. Her charge came during an impromptu visit to the campus coinciding with the orientation exercise for the freshmen on Tuesday, March 19th, 2024.
Accompanied by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics, Prof. Osita Chiaghanam, Prof. Omenugha stressed the significance of taking studies seriously while admonishing against indulgence in frivolities and vices that could derail academic pursuits.
Addressing pressing issues facing the student body, the Ag. Vice Chancellor reassured students that concerns such as accommodation shortages and inadequate water and power supply were being actively addressed by the University Management.

However, Prof. Omenugha drew attention to a critical aspect of student life often overlooked—the responsibility towards the environment. Expressing disappointment at the littering of the campus grounds, she underscored the need for a collective effort in maintaining cleanliness. Noting the detrimental effects of reckless refuse disposal, she announced the activation of a Students Police Policy to enforce responsible waste management practices.
In her closing remarks, she encouraged students to tackle academic challenges head-on, emphasizing resilience and determination in overcoming obstacles.
