A tragic incident occurred during the semifinal match between Nigeria and South Africa in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, as a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Scheme, identified as Samuel from Kaduna State, reportedly passed away while watching the penalty shootouts.

The corps member, serving in Adamawa State, allegedly collapsed just before the final kick that secured Nigeria's victory in the match. According to witnesses, Samuel fainted during the tense moment and unfortunately died before reaching the hospital in Numan.
