Covenant University has officially inaugurated a new Student Council for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, with the announcement made during the Tuesday Chapel Service on October 29, 2024.

Covenant University has officially inaugurated a new Student Council for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, with the announcement made during the Tuesday Chapel Service on October 29, 2024. The ceremony, led by the Dean of Students Affairs, Mrs. Shola Coker, introduced the newly appointed leaders who are set to play key roles in student governance and engagement on campus.

The undergraduate Student Council is headed by Mr. Hanniel Amao, a 500-level student, who will serve as Chairperson. He is joined by Miss Chidera Emmanuella Duru, appointed as Vice-Chair (Female), and Mr. Shemen Nana Sunny as Vice-Chair (Male). Other notable appointments include Miss Deborah John Olusegun as Executive Secretary, Miss Wuramide Dorcas Elegushi as Financial Secretary, and Miss Oyiza Treasure Abdulsalam as Public Relations Officer.

The Postgraduate Student Council leadership includes Mr. Theophilus Nang Wakai (PhD) as Chairperson, Miss Oghenemaero Oghale Olori (M.Sc) as Vice-Chairperson, Mr. Daniel Oluwaremilekun Olusegun (PhD) as Executive Secretary, and Miss Esther Effiong (MBA) as Financial Secretary.

Addressing the new council members, Vice-Chancellor Professor Abiodun Adebayo urged them to embrace service-oriented leadership, remarking, "True leadership is about service, responsibility, and humility. I trust that each of you will uphold these values as you take on this important role."

The inauguration concluded with a special prayer from University Chaplain Pastor Seun Olubanjo, who invoked blessings of wisdom, strength, and guidance for the newly appointed leaders.

The newly elected student leaders expressed their gratitude for the opportunity and pledged to focus on student welfare, enhanced communication with the university administration, and building a vibrant campus community. Both undergraduate and postgraduate council members committed to diligent service, aiming to foster collaboration, support academic excellence, and strengthen student unity.
