Professor Pantami’s academic credentials are impressive. He holds a Bachelor of Technology Degree in Computer Science and two Master’s Degrees, one in Computer Science and an MBA in Technology Management, all from the Federal University of Technology, Bauchi, Nigeria. His pursuit of knowledge took him to Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland, where he earned a Doctorate in Computer Information Systems.

As an academic, Professor Pantami became the first professor of Cybersecurity at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Imo State, in March 2021, marking him as the first professor of cybersecurity from northern Nigeria. Professor Pantami’s expertise transcended academia when he was appointed as the Minister of Communications and the first-ever Minister of Digital Economy of Nigeria from 2019 to 2023. During his tenure, he chaired the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) Forum in 2022, overseeing 193+ ministers of ICT globally. His policy initiatives led to the deployment of 5G in Nigeria and the establishment of the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIR), a first-of-its-kind in Africa.
