Dental College combines the 67th and 68th matriculations because of the ASUU strike last year and matriculated 4,321 students from two sets in one year into the dental college.

The 67th and 68th matriculations at Dental College were combined because of last year’s prolonged strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). Dental College matriculates 4,321 students

Rector, Prof. John Emaimo, explained that the admission was highly competitive, noting that of the 3,417 applicants for 2021/2022 session  through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), only 2,760 were admitted.

The Rector, who was represented by Deputy Rector (Academics), Dr Obiora Eke, said 2,196 applicants applied for admission through the UTME in 2022/23 session with only 1,561 getting admission. Thus, he described the matriculating students as lucky.

In a statement by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Omololu Ogunmade, the Rector restated the commitment of his administration to make the college a world-class institution with the capacity to raise highly skilled personnel who will make a difference in the society. The Rector said the institution became the first and only institution in West Africa to train dental nurses.
